I decided that I wanted to share more of the things I make and enjoy making over on the blog this year. Including food.
I’m pretty sure you know I’m vegan. I share a lot of the things I make, along with recipes, over on my instagram account in the stories section – I love making food so much so I figured why not make little videos of me making stuff? I’ve lost my tripod so at the moment it’s a little bit guerilla film-making at its finest but what the hell? You can’t get better if you never start.
So, without further ado – here’s a little video of me making vegan pistachio pesto; complete with terrible editing and voiceover because I was too tired to put much effort in! Huzzah for my laziness!
Ingredients:
pistachios
garlic
olive oil
basil
chipotle flakes
lemon
Method:
Smash it all together – the amount of ingredients is up to you but use as much basil as you can!
You could whizz this in a blender for instant deliciousness but I love the practice of making food and getting my hands dirty. There’s a certain kind of calm that comes over me when I’m in the cooking zone; like a mediative thing, really. I like to liken it to something like a tea ceremony in Japan – there’s just as much importance in the time you take to make something as the enjoyment of drinking/eating the thing.
Enjoy!
Sam
This looks gorgeous! Must try this.

It’s so so good! Add lemon and salt as you go and keep tasting it – it’s one of those recipes that you have to tweak to your own taste but I guarantee you’ll both love it!!!
