Yoga mat spray with essential oils

I’ll preface this post with the following; I used to film a lot [on my canon DSLR] and edit for fun but in light of my lost charger I filmed this on my phone and used an editor on my phone for the first time so… I didn’t have much control over it all. It was a fun little thing to try to do, though!

I have a load of essential oils [I need way more though] and decided to make a spray for my yoga mat, but it can also be used just as a room spray.

(please ignore how messy my kitchen is, this is real life ok?!)

So what did I use?

A spray bottle – I had an old Lush bottle so I decided to repurpose it.

Water – distilled or tap! Depends on what your water is like!

Witch Hazel – I have the Rose Petal Witch Hazel by Thayer’s. It’s a dream! [not available on UK amazon at the moment for some reason?!] I use it for the smell and the cleansing factor.

Tea Tree Oil – whichever one you stumble upon; it’s purely for the antibacterial properties and it also smells good.

Sweet Orange Oil – If you watch the video I smell all the oils on the worktop before I settled on sweet orange [which I didn’t think I’d actually want to pick!]. I’m all for trusting your gut so smell all the oils; you’ll need the one that smells the best because it must be what your body craves… in my case it’s something sweet!

There’s no real science to mixing; it’s just until it smells good. With oils, because they’re so concentrated, you probably only need a few drops of each but I won’t lie – I added a load more orange to mine because it’s so good!

I plan on making more concoctions soon; including bath salts so… stay tuned, obviously!

  1. Ah, this is a good idea! I didn’t even know this was a thing. Whenever I’ve felt the need to clean my mat before, I’ve just used ordinary household cleanser, but this sounds more pleasant (although I oddly do like the clean smell of generic cleanser, lol).
