This is going to be a wordy blog and less pictures, which you’re probably happy about because my photo taking has been terrible recently. I am, what we in the industry like to call ‘shutter shy’. Wait, did I make up a cool term or is that a term for something else? I feel like if I google it it might be something awful so I won’t…
Anywho, I’ve always wanted to be a photographer. I have a certificate of some kind for photography as I did a course in college and I’ve always taken pictures for me because I like looking at them but I’m terrible at taking pictures out in the world where other people are because I feel really cringy doing it? Anyone else feel like that? It’s on my bucket list of things to work on for my entire life.
This is already off on a tangent! I wanted to do a quick blog post about my experience of NaNoWriMo this year [don’t know what that is? Click here to read something I posted a while back].
I honestly thought I’d burn myself out doing it, to be honest. I worried this would be the year [I’ve done it for about 7 years straight] where I wouldn’t be able to finish it because I was so busy in my actual real life but…. I finished it. I actually clocked in at just over 53k words, which is impressive for me because I’m usually scrambling to bump up my word count right at the end!!
For some reason the words just flew out of me this year and I’m thinking it might be because this is the first year I’ve ever written a sequel to a previous novel I’ve written? What with all the ground work already laid out and characters created and story line set up it was somehow a piece of cake!
I still haven’t finished the aforementioned work and plan on doing that in January [because December is always for breaks!] but I’m just proud of the fact I did it… again.
I’m thinking of writing a really short e-book in the new year with a little guide and helpful hints on how to write a book/complete NaNoWriMo which might either be free or cost about 99p. We’ll see how it goes in planning stages – let me know if you’d be interested in that NOW so that I can determine whether it’s worth it?! I actually think I have a lot of good tips for writing, even for people who struggle to start/keep going/finish. I’m SUPER lazy but have tricks on how to get stuff done!
I’m not going to talk about what my book is about here but if you wanted to see previous work I’ve done and read about this one you can always visit my NaNoWriMo page and, who knows, maybe do it with me next year?
Thanks for reading and sorry if you noticed a short hiatus. I was really ill last week and could hardly move so… yay!
Sam
