Inktober

It seems like every month there’s a new project to get involved in. Being that I’m always looking for new things to start [and then potentially never finish] I thought I’d give Inktober a go this year.

The challenge began in 2009 and is [mostly, from what I can tell] based on Instagram. It’s where artists/avid doodlers/ bored people decide to try to brush up on their drawing skills by posting an ink drawing every day for the month of October.

I only really took notice last year when one of my internet friends started posted her art. To see it please visit her Tumblr :

She draws the most beautifully clean lined character pieces that I desperately want to own!

If you search the tag #inktober on Instagram you’ll find a mixture of drawing levels, techniques and concepts.

My concept is horror TV/Movie characters that I love. It’s a fun challenge to do if you want to draw for the sake of drawing and not get bogged down in perfection, at least that’s how I view it. I’m not going for accuracy but for showing some of my favourite characters from my youth to now. I’ve, typically, started a Pinterest board to keep my ideas in one place but I’m sorry to say it’s set to private!
