Spot the difference!

Above are two pictures of me… now before you roll your eyes and say “Oh my God, she’s, like, so vain” in that overly assumed California teenage voice you have in your head [Am I the only person who’s inner voice is a 15 year old cheerleader?] just look… LOOK!

I blogged a while ago about The Nose – in my year of turning 30 I decided that as an act of rebellion I’d get my nose pierced AND. I. LOVED. IT.

So why, you may be wondering, is my nose no longer sporting an extra hole? Because my nose is dumb. Ok, maybe I’m dumb.

I took the ring out, OK? I admit it. I hadn’t had any issues with my nose ring in the slightest. Some people suffer with infection but my nose didn’t. My nose loved having a little [read: giant] ring poked through it, sadly my own idiocy got in the way.

One Friday I woke up and whilst tugging a jumper over my head I hit myself in the nose [I know; smart!]. It hurt my nose and all day it was sensitive to the touch so that night I took the ring out… you can tell where this is going, can’t you?

Leaving it out the whole day on Saturday was fine. It started to feel better and Saturday night I picked the ring back up and poked it into the hole… no go. I tried many methods; putting moisturiser on it [I know this isn’t good hygiene but it works on my earring…], steaming my nose, trying from the other side of the nostril… nothing. Nada. Zip.

Over the next couple of days I tried a few more times, like I could surprise my nose. My nose is unsurprisable. So basically I’m now nose-ring-less and I don’t like it.

I’m going to try to get it redone very soon; I’ve left it about a month and a bit so it’s totally healed because I think that’s the right thing to do. Does anyone else have any experience with this? Is it easy getting it re-done or should I try the other nostril?

  1. That sucks that you had to take it out an it closed up! I got my nose pierced after I graduated college and had it all through grad school but then when it came time to get a job I took out the ring and wore a clear retainer. One day it came out and I let the same thing happen! It closed up but I still have a mark on my nose where the hole used to be. I would think you could get it repierced but I don’t know for sure. Lately I’ve wanted to do a double piercing on one nostril. i love the way two rings look side by side.
